Pointe & Pirouette
Masterclass

​

Rebecca Fraiz , is invited to Casa de Balet to give three Masterclasses dedicated to young ballet dancers between the ages of 9 and 18 years. Specific to each age group, they will study the correct port de bras,  pointe technique and pirouette technique in classical ballet.  

​

The 9-12 age group will study:

  • Good form and understanding of classical ballet arm positions.

  • To achieve an activated, pliable back that supports and aids ports de bras.

  • Achieving co-ordinated ports de bras throughout class, involving eyeline.

​

The 12-14 age group will study the Pointing Technique as follows:

  • Achieve correct foot alignment en Pointe.

  • Work towards a seamless going-up and down from the en Pointe position.

  • Work towards developing stronger technique en Pointe.

​

The 15-18 age group will study the Pirouette Technique as follows:

  • Work towards achieving a good flow of turn.

  • Work towards centring and stacking the posture alignments to turn.

  • Work towards making the posture dynamic to assist the pirouette.

  • Work towards achieving co-ordinated pirouettes and securing a closed position.

  • Explore grand pirouettes in their various forms and to build strength.

Rebecca Fraiz

Graduate from The Royal Ballet School's highest teaching qualification, Diploma of Dance Teaching, specializing in Vocational training. A Senior and Mid-Associates teacher in London, Covent Garden for The Royal Ballet School's Associates Program.

 

Rebecca has also had the privilege of successfully teaching full-time at White Lodge, the Lower School of The Royal Ballet School in 2016-2017, as well as collaborating with the School’s team of teachers in choreographing a class demonstration for the end of year performance at Opera Holland Park (2017). During her time as a Classical Ballet teacher for White Lodge she supported students in Repertoire for The Royal Ballet Company's performances of The Nutcracker (Sir Peter Wright's production) and Woolf Works (Wayne McGregor).

She has been part of the Associate Outreach team teaching in Livorno, Italy and a teacher at the White Lodge Summer Schools.

Rebecca was privileged to be one of the teachers for The Royal Ballet School’s Spring Course 2018 held in Hong Kong. Rebecca has been a panel member for preliminary auditions for full time training at The Royal Ballet School, as well as teaching preliminary audition classes for both the Lower and Upper School. Rebecca was a former Prep Associates teacher for the Central School of Ballet and she has also taught on Central School of Ballet's International Summer Courses and various Intensive days.RAD registered having completed the Certificate in Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance and teaches privately under Rebecca Fraiz Classical Ballet where classes are based in Fleet, Hampshire.Previously prepared students for Cecchetti standard exams and taught ad-hoc for the Cecchetti Associates. She has had performance experiences at theaters such as The Royal Opera House, Opera Holland Park and Sadler's Wells.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER?

The masterclass is aimed at young students over the age of 9.

The duration of a course is 2 hours.
