Steffi Scherzer

​

Steffi Scherzer is one of the most renowned classical prima ballerinas in Germany. She danced at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin from 1975 to 2003, where she embodied all the leading and title roles of the entire classical and modern repertoire. In 1984 she was awarded the official title of Prima Ballerina for her artistic achievements.

Born in Stollberg, Germany, Steffi Scherzer has been honored throughout her career with numerous prestigious art and critics' awards for her outstanding interpretations - "Swan Lake" and "Giselle," among others. She also won numerous prizes and awards in national and international ballet competitions, including the bronze medal at the International Ballet Competition in Varna and the Individual Excellent Performance Prize in Osaka.

Steffi Scherzer has performed on many international stages and has worked with outstanding artists and choreographers such as Rudolf Nurejev, Patrice Bart, Maurice Béjart, William Forsythe, Pierre Lacotte, Roland Petit, Uwe Scholz, Laszlo Seregi, Youri Vamos, Tom Schilling, Galina Ulanova and many more.

In 2003 she ended her artistic career after 28 years, and was awarded the title Honorary Member of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden for her accomplishments.

​

In 2004 she went to Switzerland, to take over the direction of the Zurich Dance Academy, where she established a professional training program in classical stage dance for ballet talents from all over the world. Since then, she has been in charge of the artistic profile and public image of the school.

​

She successfully trained professional classical stage dancers at the school. The best of them go on to win top prizes at international competitions, such as the Prix de Lausanne and dance in the world's leading companies.

2022 she ended her successful work in Switzerland and returned to her hometown Berlin. Since then, she has been working as a freelance teacher and coach.

​

Steffi Scherzer's expertise as a juror is sought after at international ballet competitions around the world.

HOW TO REGISTER?

The masterclass is aimed at young students over the age of 9 years - intermediate/advanced level.

The duration of a course is 90 min. / 120 min.
